WHO WE ARE
At Cross Cultural Discovery, we believe in the power of authentic connections that change people's lives forever. Our mission is to make a positive impact in the world by increasing cultural awareness and sensitivity, developing greater resilience and flexibility, and enhancing language acquisition and multi-lingual communication through cross-cultural interactions. By fully engaging with a different culture, our vision is to help our program participants and host families develop a broader perspective, foster empathy, and build valuable skills for navigating an increasingly interconnected world.
OUR BACKGROUND
We ran our first cultural immersion program in 2011 as high school language teachers - one of us an English teacher in Costa Rica and one a Spanish teacher in the USA. We saw the incredible impact it had on our students, so we decided to expand beyond our own students and provide these unique experiences to other students and adults who want to immerse themselves in the culture of the United States and/or Costa Rica. Our trips focus on the people, language, local food, geography, agriculture, industry, and educational systems in the areas our program participants visit, creating an opportunity to truly take part in the culture.
PROVIDING YOUR CULTURAL IMMERSION EXPERIENCE OF A LIFETIME
Our personalized itineraries are centered around spending time with locals and learning about the culture as an outcome of authentic interaction, not as a tourist looking in from the outside. You will enter homes, schools, and businesses, and interact with locals who truly want to meet you and exchange ideas with you. Our travel experiences are tailored to each person, family, or group who travels with us.
